Today was round one of the Sparcstation saga.

A friend from way back had it and gave it to me along with a Cisco 1720 router. From what I can tell, there are two HDDs and one (the larger (2 GB) one) crapped out. I could install Solaris 8 on the 1 GB HDD but then I would soon want to upgrade. So...I ordered one online. It took forever to find a hard drive that fit the following parameters: 80 pin SCA interface AND SE SCSI.

From what I have read, they are hot-swappable but I really am not interested in that. They use some odd latching tray that prohibits me from using a 68 pin SCSI drive with an SCA converter (I actually have one of those around here). So I spent an hour on shopper.com, pricewatch.com and a few other sites before settling on a 9 GB Seagate drive that is the same form factor. That should be more than enough room for now.

On top of that, I spent most of the day patching machines remotely in Atlanta and researching some security configs for Cisco IOS and NAT. My head has been going in too many directions and I feel stressed and exhausted. Some decent sleep will help. Anyone know where I can find it?

Webcountry.net/1dollarhosting sucks liquified feces.

They charged me today for hosting charges for an account I cancelled by phone last September. Why? They don't accept 'over the phone' cancellations apparently. Well, apparently, no one told the asshat I spoke to in September that, either. I have the email where they told me to contact them and there is a history of emails in it. To that they responded they have no history of emailing me. This AFTER I forwarded the email to them. Liars.

I hope they like having the California BBB, FTC and my Visa provider giving them hell over their idiocy.

If anyone needs a good hosting company, I am incredibly happy with the one I am using now. IM me or email me and I can send the link to them. Over a year and just happily renewed.
