Supergreg...Number 1

Ahem...never mind

Well, here is the verdict. The Cisco 1602 works. The power supply is hosed. I think it is a cold solder joint. But, I have decided to pinout the damned thing and build a power supply from a linear 13.8VDC supply I saw online for $25. Why? Why not. The damned PS from Cisco is $80+. Duh!

So far, I have found out the pins that provide the 13.8VDC and the pins that provide common as well as one pin that provides, well, nothing. I hope to document this and put it on HwB (the pinout) and my site (instructions). I may get adventurous and find out how to make it work with a stock PS/2 mouse cable. This would allow for pukes on Ebay with power supply-less (is that a word) 160x routers to slightly redeem themselves.

The linear PS is ugly but, let's face it, all desktop supplies are ugly. It has screw terminals on the front which will make it all too easy to build.

I added some friends on LJ tonight...mostly networking people. Chatted with one tonight,

Chatted with one tonight, <img src="http://www.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif" WIDTH=17 HEIGHT=17 evilgoddess, who seems pretty nice. Since my life here is essentially devoid of even talking to other netheads, the IM discussions are refreshing.

Well, my power supply adventure is done for the day...now, to sleep. I have a routing book to crack tomorrow.
