Things started out pretty good today and just got worse once I left for home. I got to work a bit early, take care of some things I changed on the network the Friday before and everything was working great.
I start to leave and decide to stop by Rat Shack and pick up some parts to make a serial cable for the Tiara muxes I ordered online. All I really wanted was a rs-232 breakout box. Once I get there, I realize they no longer stock anything like this. Instead, I can buy about 6 items to do the job - and all 6 will be overpriced and an invitation to have it not work.
I end up going to another place and getting two parts to make a crappy ghetto cable...that doesn't work. It just irritated me. To me, the breakout box is a simple component they should stock. It is one of those instances where I want to do it right the first time and my efforts are stifled by local vendor idiocy. I guess I will order one from a mail order outfit.
